Why Choose Dance Classes at Legs Performing Arts
At Legs Performing Arts, dance is more than steps — it’s confidence, resilience, and joy. Parents tell us their shy toddlers grow into performers who shine on stage, while teens carry teamwork and focus into every part of life.
As a licensed Ready Set Dance provider, our accredited teachers retrain yearly to deliver the very best programs. Children don’t just move to music — they build motor skills, independence, and social confidence.
What makes us different is the culture. Families say our studio feels like a second home: kids high-five after class, parents connect in the foyer, and teachers know every child by name.
From ballet to hip hop, tap, acrobatics, and beyond, opportunities grow with your child. Whether they dream of a professional career or simply a lifelong passion for dance, both journeys are celebrated here.
The answer to “will my child fit in?” is always yes. Toddlers to teens, beginners to advanced — there’s a class, a teacher, and a community waiting to welcome them.
Dance Classes for Every Age & Stage

Children’s Dance Classes (Ages 5–12)
School-aged children can explore ballet, jazz, hip hop, tap, acrobatics, musical theatre, and more. Classes combine discipline with creativity, helping kids discover their passion while making lifelong friends.
Teen Dance Classes (Ages 13+)
Teens develop resilience, teamwork, and leadership. Many progress to advanced classes or our Performance Program, while others simply enjoy a supportive outlet to express themselves.

The Legs Difference: More Than Just Steps
Step into our studio and you’ll feel it straight away: parents chatting in the foyer, kids high-fiving after class, teachers who know every child by name. Families describe it as a second home. With over 25 years of serving Canberra families, we’re proud that many students stay with us for a decade or more. Some go on to professional careers; others simply gain confidence, friendships, and joy that last a lifetime.

FAQs
At what ages can my child start?
From as young as 2 years old with our licensed Ready Set Dance program, right through to teenagers. Parents love that toddlers gain confidence quickly — some even leading their first concert after just a term.
Do parents stay in class?
No — our classes are designed to build independence and confidence. Parents are included through watching weeks, concerts, parent groups, and community events. Families tell us this balance helps their children thrive both inside and outside the studio.
What does it cost to join?
Classes start from $191 per term for one weekly class (10 weeks). We also offer bundled packages, catch-up lessons, and special offers — many families stay with us for 10+ years because of the value and long-term development their children receive.
Do students need a uniform?
Yes. Uniforms create discipline and structure, but they’re kept simple and affordable. Parents often say they love how the uniform helps their child feel like part of the team and builds confidence on stage.
What if my child is shy or brand new to dance?
That’s exactly who our programs are designed for. Many testimonials mention children who began shy, uncertain, or even switching from other studios — and within weeks they were excited to attend, smiling in class, and making new friends.
What opportunities are there beyond weekly classes?
Students can take part in mid-year concerts, community events, overseas trips, and the elite Performance Program. Some graduates have gone on to national dance schools and professional careers, while others simply enjoy a lifelong love of dance. Both journeys are celebrated here
