Uniform and Dress Regulations

PLEASE TAKE NOTE THAT YOU MUST WEAR THE CORRECT “LEGS” UNIFORM AND NOT JUST YOUR OWN BLACK DANCEWEAR. OUR UNIFORM IS PART OF THE REQUIRED DISCIPLINE FOR DANCE. THE “LEGS” UNIFORM IS ONLY AVAILABLE FROM THE “LEGS” OFFICE.

PLEASE NOTE: “LEGS” IS A REGISTERED COMPANY AND YOU MAY NOT HAVE OUR NAME EMBROIDERED OR PRINTED ON YOUR OWN ITEMS.

All students are required to wear the correct uniform for their class. Tiny Tots and Adults are the only exception. The different classes and a list of their requirements can be found below. New students have 2 weeks to get their uniform together.

General grooming

  • All students must come to class neatly groomed.
  • Ballet student's hair must be in a bun.
  • Other students must have hair off the face and tied back.
  • No sloppy Joes or T-shirts to be worn to class.
  • No hanging jewellery and no watches are to be worn to class.
  • Matching cross-over's may be worn when cold.
  • NO CHEWING GUM ALLOWED IN CLASS OR ANYWHERE IN THE STUDIO.

Dance Tots

  • Rose pink sleeveless leotard.
  • Pink canvas ballet shoes (no jiffies).
  • Tights and skirts are optional.

Hip Hop and Song and Dance

  • You may wear any combination from the new “Legs” Dancewear range (only available from the “Legs” Dance Studio).

Adults

  • It is not compulsory to wear leotards for these classes. You may wear any combination from the new “Legs” Dancewear range (only available from the “Legs” Dance Studio). You must be comfortable and the teacher must be able to see your body/legs moving for corrections

Acrobatics

  • All levels - “Legs” Unitard (only available from the “Legs” Dance Studio. The unitard is compulsory for examinations).

Jazz

Beginners 4-6yrs, Level 1, Level2

  • Skin tone dance tights.
  • Black jazz shoes (preferably split sole).
  • “Legs” uniform (only available from the “Legs” Dance Studio).

ALL OTHER GRADES (Level 3 and above)

  • “Legs” Dancewear range available from the “Legs” Dance Studio.
  • Tan split sole jazz shoes.

Tap

  • “Legs” Dancewear range (only available from the “Legs” Dance Studio).
  • Skin tone dance tights (optional).
  • Tan tap shoes (Camille taps preferred).

Level 5 and above may wear black lace up tap shoes

For examinations you will require the Black “Legs” uniform with 3/4 pants.

Boys

  • Jazz “Legs” Dancewear range available from the “Legs” Dance Studio. Black jazz shoes.
  • Tap: “Legs” Dancewear range available from the “Legs” Dance Studio. Black Tap shoes.
  • Ballet (Pre-Primary & Primary): White short sleeved cotton Lycra leotard with navy twill shorts, short white socks, white canvas or leather ballet shoes with white elastic.
  • Grade 1 & 2: White short sleeved leotard with navy Lycra shorts with brown leather belt, short white socks and white canvas or leather full sole ballet shoes. Black lace up character shoes.
  • Grade 3 - 5: White short sleeved or sleeveless leotard, navy stirrup tights. Short white socks worn over the tights with white ballet shoes as above. Black lace up character shoes.

Ballet

Beginners, Pre-Primary and Primary

  • Rose pink sleeveless leotard.
  • Pink ballet socks (Pink tights for Primary for exams)
  • Pink canvas or leather ballet shoes with full sole.

Grade 1, Grade 2 & Grade 3

  • Navy blue sleeveless leotard and matching waist elastic.
  • Pink ballet tights.
  • Pink leather ballet shoes with full sole and ballet ribbons.
  • Black character shoes.

Grade 4 and Grade 5

  • Burgundy sleeveless low back leotard with ruche front and matching waist elastic.
  • Pink ballet tights.
  • Pink leather ballet shoes with full sole and ballet ribbons.
  • Black character shoes.

Grade 6

  • Lilac sleeveless low back leotard with ruche front.
  • Pink ballet tights.
  • Pink leather ballet shoes with full or split sole and ballet ribbons.
  • Black character shoes.

Grade 7

  • Dusty Pink sleeveless low back leotard with ruche front.
  • Pink ballet tights.
  • Pink leather ballet shoes with full or split sole and ballet ribbons.
  • Black character shoes.

Grade 8

  • Cornflower blue sleeveless low back leotard with ruche front.
  • Pink ballet tights.
  • Pink leather ballet shoes with full or split sole and ballet ribbons.
  • Black character shoes.

Majors

  • Black leotard (as for exams).
  • Pink ballet tights.
  • Pink leather/satin ballet shoes with full sole and ballet ribbons.
  • Black character shoes.
